First off congratulations to the Zombies for winning tonight's trivia contest. We watched as they mercilessly devoured the brains of a luchador, and our childhood memories; I hear they got some LOLcats as well. This means that at the next company meeting, which is TUESDAY 4/21 AT 7:00PM, be sure to dress up as the walking dead(No Shotguns please!)
Next I'd like to announce that sans some scripts the site is completely updated! Which is exciting news for everyone. You can now use this site as a resource to view when your rehearsals are, along with the sections for this week. So be sure to check that out at the very least. Also if you missed a chance to see what jobs you have, that information is in the contact sheet. I could go on about each link and how awesome it is, but I recommend clicking through the entire site and experiencing it for yourself. Though I will mention specifically that the photos page has not been updated since 2007 and even then most of the photos are from 2006; I think you know what to do.
We also now have open submissions for the Chautauqua 2009 T-shirt. There was so much interest from you budding fashion designers that we had to give everyone an opportunity to submit their ideas. This means that if you have a shirt idea that will stand the test of time, then submit it by Monday 4/20 at 7PM. All designs should be delivered to SPO. The program managers are always there during rehearsal hours. So be sure to drop by, say hello, and maybe your fellow Chautauquans will be wearing a snazzy shirt. Though not just any snazzy shirt. Your snazzy shirt.
Also a reminder to all stage managers: Be sure to schedule a production meeting for your show this week. This goes double for Program A, since you guys have less time then the other shows. This meeting should be between the director, the designers, and the stage manager. Though I am sure you already knew that.
One last announcement: I know that our festival's wonderful writers are working tirelessly, tweaking every line to perfection. This means that the scripts are going to be under constant changes. So writers, if you send me your scripts as you update them, our little slice of the Internet will have the latest and greatest versions available for everyone who needs them. I also recommend as a side note that you put version numbers at the top of your scripts, and in the filename. A simple v2 makes a great deal of difference for your directors, designers, actors, etc.
That is all for now, but be sure to check in frequently, you never know what excitement lies around the bend. Besides only chumps don't check the website. For now, congratulations on your non-chumpness.
Good News Everyone! The once old and wrinkled Chautauqua website filled with frightening things like clowns and lions has received a face lift. All the 8's are now 9's, and the 29's are now 30's. Along with things like new color schemes and banners, the site now also has an updated play list and cast list. Now you faithful reader may be asking yourself, "Well that is just dandy, can you tell me when my rehearsal is?" To which I must sadly report "No." However, it is merely a matter of receiving the information from our lovely and talented Production Managers; then this site will be running at full tilt!
Along with things like rehearsal schedules this site will also tell you when and where your sections are, have digital versions of the scripts for your reading pleasure, and a contact sheet so if you ever need to contact a fellow Chautauquan you have a sheet containing their contact information. Along with a myriad of other features.
I'd also like to take this time to remind you that our next company meeting will be Tuesday 4/14 at 7pm in the Barn.
Be there on time, hell be there five minutes early. Everyone will love you for it. The theme for this
week is a theme battle. So come dressed as your favorite theme from this lovely list:
This concludes Chautauqua 2009's first major web update. I hoped that you enjoyed it as much as I did and make sure to tune in frequently. You don't want to be the one chump who missed an important message because you are too good for the Internet.
Good News Everyone! This website once a temple to the past is now becoming part of the future. As with all transitions, it will take time, but soon we will turn Cirque De Chautauqua's big top into Old McTauqua's barn. So that's exciting. As of this writing the main page is the only page that I have updated, but that will all change. In the mean time take a chance to poke around, and look at the FAQ and Handbook since those are not only handy, but not in need of updates. There are some slick photos as well.
So that is all the news for now. Tune back and watch the website grow. It is particularly entertaining when I am working on it, and you view all the failed experiments. Also I know that the banner still says Cirque de Chautauqua. I need to make a new one. Which will be an adventure in itself.
